Switchgear, batteries, switches, fuses and many more accessories form the electrical system on board. It's always a good norm to check their efficiency status and their correct working status. For instance, batteries, the pulsing core of the boat-system, need to be chosen accurately, with much care for a series of rules, like not matching batteries with different technology, or not mixing new with old ones. In order to protect them and to prevent acid spoils, it is always better to place them in the battery-containing box. With traditional batteries, the best choice is to have a ventilation from/to outside to avoid gas accumulation. In the market, there are also AGM batteries (Absorptive Glass Mat) or gel (jellied acid) which don't produce gasses, and therefore are ideali for an internal position in the boat. Remember, not to let batteries discharge, as they get irrevocably damaged.
